if'n ya would...would like to make this presentation a co-op project(i.e
pyrex/guy) to the hive/Rhodium/////Pyrex@home.com Well get your tooters

Well I can't speak for him, but I don't hold nothing against him....yes he
may indeed hold something against me, cause yes I did unecessarily harrass
him, when he posted before about Li/Nh3, and if'n you do hold anything
against me-->I'm sorry for the unneeded responses I gave ya. But I am
aware that he is more knowledgable in this field then I am when it comes
to facts from the books. What information i'm willing to post is actual
tried results, but that kind of post would be lacking the scientific
reasoning why it would or wouldn't work, which is why I'm asking him if'n
he wants to fill in what I can only guess at. Either way I will still post
method, I just figured it might be a better post if'n we put knowledge
together, seeing as how it might be good enough for rhodium's board, I
wouldn't want to submit stuff that isn't detailed with guidelines that
have some factual backing. Anyway I'm rambling. Pyrex out

No, I don't hold anything against you mrr pyrex.
Almost all of my information is posted now, but if you want a question
answered just post it and I will try to answer quickly as possible.
Also, I'm sure you are aware of my prefered method of Birch reduction.
I prefer to add the alkali metal after the addition of the ephedrine to
the NH3 (or whatever compound you use). This way the NH3 need not be
anhydrous, which is difficult to acheive, but, depending on the proton
donator content, you will need to add more than a 2 to 1 ratio of alkali
metal to ephedrine free base.
Just glad to help

Well I'm not saying that I have tried the method you just proposed...but
someone recently, very recently observed a dream that followed that idea
to a TEE, meaning the condensed NH3 was allowed to gather in the bottom of
a 250ml round bottom flask then Gilligan decided to throw in 4gms of
freebase(which by the way had no intentions of dissolving in that NH3,
even with violent shaking, stirring, nothing), so then the Professor
walked in an said hey let me help you there, and he threw in (1)2450 Li
cell, immediately deep blue color was noted. The rxn vessel was mixed
realll well, by the Skipper for about 3-5mins. Then Mr. Howell came in and
threw in about 150mls of Ethyl Ether(sp?), and bang instantly blue went
away, then H20 was added by Mary Ann to make sure there was no left over
Li in the vessel. Then Mrs. Howell(mrs. KNOW-IT-ALL), said give me that,
and she proceeded to gas it, and low and behold a blizzard appeared,
HOWEVER when Ginger the TEST monkey tried it....BBBLLAAAHHHH, some of the
nastiest crap she had ever been subjected too, she exclaimed!! It was NOT
Meth by a long shot. When I watched this episode on Gilligans Island I was
sure they would get spun, I mean it looked get on paper, but it don't
appear to work, unless one of these there characters screwed things up, by
not following Betty Crockers recipe book to a tee, but it looked straight
forward, but it sure didn't go forward! Skipper put out a plea, PLEASE
somebody help my LITTLE buddy Gilligan, he hates to a unsucessful Smurf
;-) Pyrex out P.S.-Chem Guy- What I had in mind was somethin along the
lines of maybe like Gilligan writing up some reaction guidelines that he
had observed hands-on exp, and then give his thoughts on what seemed to
work the best most of the time, and then send you the material and then
you could edit, add, or whatever you'd like to the material, maybe give
the reason why it shoud or should be done a certain way etc. Basically
you'd put the finishing touches on it, and then we could present it for
informational purposes ONLY on the hive or Rhodium's board if it meets his
standards. Gilligan had thought about a solo post, but in reality it would
probably be more beneficial to bees if it was a co-op venture since
Gilligan knows he ain't the shi*, when it comes to facts, he only knows
what he has seen, and then with his limited I.Q. , well his guessing at
things would just make things worse, but if he had a expert on the subject
proof read the post, well it just might be presentable ;-) Pyrex out
